Once a year, Bovec becomes a venue for dance, theatre and music performances of local groups and bands, keeping the memory alive and making an important contribution to preserving the local cultural heritage. The event is all about food – expect a rich selection of local cuisine: frika (grated cheese fried in fat, with various combinations of potato, eggs, bacon, salami, cottage cheese or sausage), chompa potatoes, Bovec cheese and potato (‘chompi') pizza. Potato Night is usually held in August.
